Volunteer Opportunities with the Humanist Fellowship

Join the people who joined the Fellowship!  Without the "blood, sweat, and tears" of volunteers, the Fellowship would be unable to fulfill the organization's vision and meet our day-to-day goals.  Consider using your gifts and talents to advance the cause of Humanism in San Diego.  This organization will provide you with meaningful opportunities to exercise your current skill set and develop new abilities while making a positive contribution to your community.

Consider the following needs of the Fellowship and decide what you will do:
  • Blog Contributor:  Monitor the HFSD blog sites on Facebook and twiiter, post articles and “conversation starters”, and respond to comments.

  • Event Coordinator:   Coordinate with Central Library personnel, HFSD leadership, and guest lecturers to insure events are setup and broken down per the needs of the lecturer, the requirements of the Library, and HFSD standards.

  • Book Club Leader:  Have a favorite book? Lead a book discussion in your neighborhood.  We'll help you reserve a room at a convenient library, or choose your favorite coffee shop.

  • Program Committee Member:  Assist with planning and coordinating the various lectures, outreach events, and social activities for the membership.

  • High School and College Outreach:  Often overlooked are our Humanist high school and college students. Faculty are overworked, and might be willing to become an official secular-group adviser, if only they had a little help.  Consider becoming a liaison with students and faculty in order to establish Humanist clubs on campuses, and/or provide support and encouragement to existing secular student organizations.

  • Graphic Designer:  Website design; Create and design promotional materials for events.

  • Newsletter Contributor:  Research and write short articles for the HFSD web site and newsletter.

  • Webmaster for the HFSD website

After choosing what appeals to you, contact us and let us know what you might like to do.  We promise that a simple inquiry does not obligate you!

Community Volunteer Opportunities

As Humanists, we freely accept the moral obligation to develop to the fullest our own natural talents and to reach out to our fellow human beings needing guidance, comfort, or support.  The adjacent tabs " The Fellowship" and "Community Outreach" pinpoint opportunities for you to serve your brothers and sisters within the Humanist Fellowship of San Diego, and highlight specific, short-term projects of other community organizations that are requesting our assistance. We have also started a new Meetup group called "Humanity On Call".  Click here for information on how you can receive regular notices from Humanity On Call about volunteer opportunities alongside other humanists.
